i have been told to use nail polish remover. if you go to a nail salon they will tell you and help you. i have always used nail polish remover though.
Rather than soaking them in regular nail polish, you should visit your local beauty supplies shop and get ';pure acetone';. Pure acetone softens the artificial nail and makes the removal easier. It really works.

nail polish remover with acetone. It will melt the nail and the glue. It does take a little time though.
