it depends what you allergic to in the acrylic nails
is it the actual acrylic or does it have to do with the process they use? like the powder, or plastic of the nails?
from my experience they are pretty much the same thing except gel nails don't stay on as long
I wouldn't risk it unless you know exactly what your allergic to
