Should I get acrylic nails?
I am an 12 year old girl.
And I want to get them.
I am very active and play sports.
Do they ruin your nails?
How much??Are acrylic nails good?
I know they look tempting, because they are so attractive, but they are damaging to your nails in the long run. As well, if you are active in sports activities, it is even more likely that if you bang them, that your actual nail bed would be injured as the artificial nail is less flexible than a natural nail. Plus, they are expensive to get and maintain. Besides, natural nails look great, especially if you keep them looking nicely groomed, even if they are short! Are acrylic nails good?
i'm 12 too and i wanted to get them but they are very bad when they put them on they file your real nail and make it thinner and they put this really strong glue on them when you finally take them of it hurts soooooo bad and your real nails are as thin as a piece of paper. don't get them
well they will ruin ur nails, if u just want nails for a special occasion use press ons ( they don't mess ur nails up) I suggest go au natural if u play sports... nails that come off hurt
They're about $25 and they can ruin your nails if you get them all the time, but they are very pretty. If you play sports though, it could be very possible for them to break easily. You wouldn't want that!
no yes and 40.00
get gel nails.
50.00
looks totally real (acrylics look SO fake)
the only fake part is the tip. the rest is a special gel painted over it.
need to be redone every month or so
not as thick as acrylic nails
they dont break easily (im a soccer keeper and mine are all still on)
they do make your nails slightly thinner, but if you get the gel nails off you can just use a thickening polish and your nails will be back to normal.
they dont hurt when they fall off at all. it just feels like you peeled nail polish off of it or something.
I LOVE MY GEL NAILS! they're the best thing you'll ever get
theyre alright i just like manicure now if i choose to get acrylic i like them short and natural looking just becaue the polish last longer
No They Are Fine .. Jus Dont Bang Them Whilst You Are Playin Sport!
They do ruin your nails. But eventually your natural nails will grow back. They break, and if you play sports, I would not get them . They take upkeep and are not something to just get and have one time. The Average cost is about 30-40 dollars. You have to go back every two weeks or so to get them re-done. Just to get them redone is about 20 dollars. Do you, at 12years old have 40 dollars to blow or the time to take care of them ? I wouln't get them until you were a bit older. And not playing sports
Yes they do ruin ur nails because of the glue and they can range frm $40.00-$80.00
they look pretty but i think for ur age and even mine [im 13] is too young. if u get them done its really going to make u look fake. and its not a good idea if u play sports especially if u play basketball. i got them done once [for a wedding] and they were like $25 they can be up to like $40 i really didnt like them and i took them off the next day, it kind of left my nails thin and ugly when i took them off so i guess it kinda ruins your nails but not that much. i rather use some cute nail polish and paint my nails rather than getting plastic glued to them but thats just me if u really want to get them then go ahead but i wouldnt recommend it
no they hurt
Okay first off your 12. People who get acrylic nails get them b/c they are old and can't store enoough iron in there body and so it leads to their nails cracking. If you get the nails your nails we trun to be ery weak and plus you play sports. so it is pretty much a bad idea. they are 27 to get them on and then every week they are 25 to maintain them.
wait till your older
Twenty Dollars and you have to get them done every month. If you play sports I would get them short. Otherwise they are really cute, and they don't damage your nails.
first i wanna tell you something about acrylic nails:::
Acrylic nails are basically made by mixing a particular powder and liquid. The best liquid that can do no harm should contain Ethyl Methacrylate, also called EMA. This is slightly expensive.
However, a cheaper option is Methyl Methacrylate or MMA, but is known to have certain harmful effects. The only reason it is preferred while preparing acrylic nails is because of its cost effectiveness.
Amongst its side effects are serious skin reactions and deformities in natural nail growth.Keeping this in mind, it is better to pay extra and get acrylic nails can do you no harm at all. Most nail technicians do believe that an artificial nail should not be treated differently from the natural nail. This is because any damage caused due to the fixture of acrylic nails could lead to unwanted problems for natural growth of nails.
but i personally feel there is no need of it, yeah you can fix it while party when you wanna look the best. so its upto you dear.
it would cost you around 40.

Acrylic nails! Are they a do or a DON'T!?
tacky or cute? I don't mean long claws I mean the short sporty looking french tips!Acrylic nails! Are they a do or a DON'T!?
Acrylic are fine.
But like you say....
short and cute.
The longer they are the more creepy
and disgusting.
When I see a woman with nails so long and clawlike
all curled up and creepy looking that they cannot
put their make-up on very well, or do their hair so it
looks nice and they have to use a pair of pliers to
zip up their pants with because their nails are in the
way..........
well, all I can visualize is the fact that they also cannot
possibly wipe themselves effectively after using the
toilet without causing personal physical unjury.....
and ew.....
you just know they are not 'clean' people.
And that is so far beyond 'tacky', I'm not sure I can
come up with an appropriate term strong enough.
You're right...acrylic or not...just keep 'em short and
sweet.Acrylic nails! Are they a do or a DON'T!?
the short square ones are cute, i have them on right now. Its funny when you get fake nails you like want your hands exposed to everyone, cuz they look so good!!! its just tacky when they start to fall off!!! when one is becoming loose you have to buy a solution at your local drugstore and dip your nails in there till they dissolve off! If you do your own acrylic nails expect them to last 2 -3 weeks. max. I got them done professionally once, and it lasted for months!! theres also a lot of base colours for nails to consider, i highly recommend staying away from the pink under toned ones (tacky) and buff looks really good. Good luck!!!
i just love them. i have been wearing them for years. they stopped me from biting my nails. and i only have to have them done once a month. but your hands will just look beautiful. you can have them done at one of these asian salons. they really do a beautiful job and the price is right. just make sure you go to a pro.
i had them and do still get them they cute dont get mega long ones through nor to short that tacky get middle lenth if u go into the shop and tell them its your first time they should give you a nice lenth or just say can i have a middle lenth please xx
hope this helps xx
good luck xx
well there are pros and cons to having fake nails. I have had mine for 3 years, and they always make my look whatever it is polished. But nails can be expensive you must fill in your nails every two weeks, which can get expensive. They also make your nail beds really weak. When I remove my nails my hands hurt like hell and I can't tolerate anything even bumping my nails.
If you can deal with those cons then I say get them
I GET THESE ALL OF THE TIME. THEY LOOK GREAT WITH WHITE FRENCH TIPS AND AIRBRUSHED FLOWERS ON YOUR THUMBS WITH A DIAMOND IN THE CENTER. WHEN REMOVING THE NAIL HAVE THE SALON DO IT BECAUSE THEY WILL DO IT CORRECTLY. AT HOME APPLY A COAT OF NAIL STRENGTHNER/HARD AS NAILS TWICE A DAY BECAUSE YOUR NAILS WILL BE THIN AND BRITTLE. AFTER ABOUT A WEEK OR TWO YOU WILL SEE YOURS NAILS STRONGER AND GROWING.
DONT!!
I got fake nails pu ton one time, and I accidentally hit my thumb nail, my whole thumb was black and purple for almost 2 months. They are really bad for your real nails, they make them really brittle.
Just let your nails grow out them get the french manicure on your real nails. That's what I'm doing now :)
If you wear acrylic a lot, you can get a fungus under your nails. They get so ugly. It took me ages to grow them out and get them healthy again, so I just go with clean, well-groomed nails now. Each night I use a cuticle cream and keep them moisturized. That's it.
I think they are kind of cute, but I got them once and my nails wouldn't grow back correctly for a long time. So unless you want them for a really long time I would not do it. I probably won't ever get them done again.
a dont I hate acrylic nails. Natural looking is best! Just take care of ur nails and they will look fabulous!!! When ppl get acrylic nails it just shows laziness b/c they dont wanna take care of their nails and spend time on them.
Sure fake nails are look good, but they ruin your real nails underneath. I grow out my real nails and get them painted at the salon. The polish they use is very hard and last a long time.
They are a DON'T! Unless you want to ruin your nail beds permanently or have ridges on your nails forever. I would suggest natural nails or getting gels instead ...they do less damage
too cute! I like them better because they are more durable and I think the color last longer or in your case the french tips.
I think they are cute but they ruin your nails.
It's always better to sick with natural ones.
Unless your nails are disgusting, just take good care of them and don't get fake nails. Natural is the best.
They're a don't! If you want a French manicure on short nails, then use your own! Way cuter!
very cute
in the long run they make your nails brittle- I wouldn't

I have some questions about acrylic nails...?
Okay, so my best friend got her nails done with acrylics for prom, and said that she wants to keep getting them done, and we were thinking we would go and do it together...But, I have a few questions, but first here is some information I know and have.
There's a salon (not one of the japanese mall ones,)that we would go to...I've already checked it out, it has a very good reputation.
I know that there is a difference between glue on and acrylic nails....
I know not to rip them off, when I want them off.
And um, thats about it...
I'd like to know everything about them....EVERYTHING...
So um yeah.I have some questions about acrylic nails...?
First, make sure that whoever you choose uses sterilized equipment. Don't want you getting a nasty fungal infection. I'm guessing that you're getting tips. That's when they glue the nail to the tip of your nail and fill in the gaps with an acrylic filling. If this is what you're getting it's very easy to take care of. All you have to do is, then your nails start going out go back to the salon and have them ';filled';. All they're going to do is, add more of the acyclic filling in to the gaps and re-polish them. You can change your polish as often as you like. If this is you first time I would let them do it for you. It doesn't cost that much for them to refill or to change the polish. When you want them removed just tell them that you would like them taken off. They'll then soak your nails in acetone to soften them to be removed. Hope I helped.I have some questions about acrylic nails...?

Well, acrylics, they dont hurt.
You should go get fill in's every 2 weeks.
Get the short until you get used to long nails, because the shorter they are, the easier they are to work with.
EDIT:: To me it seems like you know alot about them already.
Acrylic nails are good for maintaining your nails when you want them to look better or more sophisticated, but try not to get them too long in length because it can be difficult to do things like pick up change, take out contacts, etc. (unless you like the long), the person doing your nails will ask you how long you want them, and if you want them square or oval. Most girls your age wear them square which is the look you've probably seen.
Glue on nails are ok, if you only want the nails to be on for a short period of time like maybe 5-10 days and if you aren't looking to spend 20 bucks
for a full set of acrylic nails it can range anywhere between 20-30 dollars depending on where you go and most women get them redone after 2 weeks when your natural nail underneath starts to show at the bottom, but you can go longer than that
It is important to make sure if you get your nails ';refilled'; after the 2 weeks if you plan on keeping them longer you eventually get them taken off to give your natural nails a break. If you keep nails on for too long like months and months at a time without replacing them or giving them a break you run the risk of getting a fungus infection on your nail(s)
Also, sometimes acrylics can BREAK. If that happens you can always go to a nail salon to get the nail replaced witha new one and its usually a small fee of 3-5 dollars, but some may do it for free.
Keep in mind too that your natural nails will become weaker as a result of the acrylic nails esp. if you keep them on longer. They may be more sensitive, thinner and break easier, so be careful.
But all in all, acrylics make for a good look and look nice, especially for a special occasion like prom :)

Acrylic nails removal?
I got acrylic nails three weeks ago, I still have not taken them off. but i need to they are ugly!! do they offer that service at the nail shops!!Acrylic nails removal?
they do offer the service at the salon but it costs money. i would say just file them down and wait for them to get loose so u can just pull them off. Good luck!Acrylic nails removal?
yes they do at nail shops. Or you can just get a fill.

Is there acrylic in solar nails- because I am allergic?
Yes. Solar nails ARE acrylic nails. It is simply a term used by what I call 'discount' salons to describe Pink %26amp; Whites (Permanent French nails) Unfortunately, this has led to some confusion. Many of these salons use the term Solar Nails to give people the impresion that they are some kind of new, and better nail which is not acrylic, but something better than that. This is totally false. I have had this discussion a few times with other nail techs, and we have come to our own conclusion as to why discount salons use the term in the way that they do. And it goes like this: Permanent French acrylic nails have been around for a long time now. American salons have been doing them for years. Although it can mean using a white tip to achieve the 'french' look, and coating the tip with clear acrylic to give it stability and support, it usually means using a white acrylic powder to 'sculpt' the extension onto your nail, and using a nail brush to shape the 'smile line.'
Technically speaking. the real SolarNail term belongs to a company called Creative Nail Design. The SolarNail product line was first introduced by CND back in the late1970's. Though SolarNail powders are still available today, the company had recently ceased production of their SolarNail liquid monomer.
Just my theory, but there you have it. Take it for what its worth.
BTW, if you are allergic to acrylic nails, then have you tried gel nails? That works in most cases for people who have problems with acrylic, such as allergies to the chemicals. You might want to give them a try. But remember, gel nails are made from? You guessed it, gels. They are NEVER a powder. If the tech uses ANY liquid and powder on your nails, you are getting acrylic nails, and not gel nails - no matter what they tell you, they are acrylic nails. Real, top of the line nail gel looks just like this:

Getting Acrylic Nails?
I have never had acrylic nails. How long do they last? Is it going to be different moving type and typing?Getting Acrylic Nails?
If they are good ones, they can last as long as you want as long as you keep filling the cuticles in.
I have had them on for over 6 months before, just filling them down and going back to get them filled in which usually costs around 拢10. I usually go and get this done every 2-3 weeks. They are hard wearing, and the person putting them on for you should tell you when to take them off.
Your real nails underneath will grow as well, but will be weakened considerably for a while after you take the acrylics off.
You get used to them really quickly, and as they are hard wearing and probably stronger than your real nails, you can perform all normal daily tasks. Typing takes a bit of getting used to - and not hitting about 3 letter all at once is the trick!
I am at Uni and type all the time and never have a problem. think you adapt and probably tilt your hand up more??
If you choose to paint them, you will need an acetone free nail polish remover as real nail polish remover will melt them.
Most places charge to take them off, I have never done this, but be warned, it really hurts to pull them off, using nail polish remover to melt them a lot of the way helps though.Getting Acrylic Nails?
I have always wanted to get acrylic nails as well but my mom never let me because she said that they damaged her nails almost to the point of no return
:O
If you want your nails to look longer and more girly a friend of mine recommended to me, using the fake nails you can apply yourself that you can get at Rite Aid or Walmart etc. The glue for these is much more gentil and should not damage your nail beds or cuticles.
Keeping your nail polish off your cuticles and keeping your cuticles moisturized and cut back should also make your nails longer or at least appear longer.
Don't forget - filing your nails is really helpful too! Nobody likes cracked splitting nails =P
Good luck !
I used to love putting them on i would always go back for a refill because they look so nice and feminine, and it matches my fingers alot...
it does feel weird when i type but trust me you'll get used to it, but once their off your going to say wow i can type freely lol
they last for like 3 weeks if you keep it clean and not hit your hands anywhere it'll last longer
have fun with them lol
I got a French Manicure on Boxing Day (same thing as acrylics except I got the white tip). I got a refill a couple of weeks ago and they're growing out again. *sigh* It will be a bit strange to start off with but you get used to it quickly. It's harder to pick up tiny things like hairs and doing up buttons can be a bit tricky. Don't get them too long otherwise it's just way too impractical.
They last about 2 weeks if you don't get them filled. If you get them too long then it will be hard to type.

Acrylic nails and pregnancy.. please help.?
okay well yesterday i went to get my nails done and i got acrylics on and today my period is 1 day late so i took a test and it turned out positive. im feeling fine like no painful cramps.. do u think my baby will be ok from the smell of the acrylic? also if i was to miscarry do u think it would of happend already?
thanks so much.Acrylic nails and pregnancy.. please help.?
u are fine acrylic smell wont hurt the babyAcrylic nails and pregnancy.. please help.?
I wouldn't worry about the smell i had my nails done when i was in my third trimester and baby was fine.
I asked the doctor and he said that as long as i didnt spend 8 hours a day 5 days a week in a nail salon i would be fine to go for an hour to get them done.
I can see how you'd be worried, but your body should filter that bad stuff away from baby. Regarding miscarriage, your chances go way down after the 6 week heart beat is detected and down even further as you enter into your 2nd trimester. Good luck

Acrylic nails at home?
whats the diff b/t powder and liquid which one is better...what is the color acrylic powder used for...wheres the best place to buy the power/liquid.Acrylic nails at home?
Yes, these kits are available, and yes, you can do them at home, but unless you are a licensed nail technician, you are not going to be able to buy any really good quality acrylic, or gel nail products. These kits contain really poor quality components (liquid and powders which are really not very good). I don't recommend using them. Plus, there is much more to applying nail enhancements than just buying some kit and doing them. It is not as simple as it looks, and a lot can go wrong during the process. If you really want to learn how to do nails, I would suggest enrolling in an accredited nail institution and learning from them. This is the way to go. But really, don't try them at home. I know that some people will disagree, but I've been a licensed nail professional for a long time, and I know what I'm talking about when it comes to nails, and nail care, and I'm not a know-it-all, but I can tell you that doing nails at home with a kit is not a good idea.

Can you use acetone on acrylic nails?
Use acetone only if you want to soak them off. Otherwise if you continue to use acetone to remove polish you can experience premature lifting. Use only acetone free polish remover to remove polish from your acrylics. Technically you should only remove polish when it is time to fill in your nails because acetone free remover can also cause lifting if used excessively. Can you use acetone on acrylic nails?
no... better to get acetone free as the acetone will ruin the acrylic. Can you use acetone on acrylic nails?
yes if you want to remove them,
no if you just want to change the colour of the varinsh.
Definitely need non-acetone for acrylic nails. If you use acetone then your nails will get soft and the color that you have on them will just smear and go into the nail.
No - it will melt them.
acetone is not acryllic , im sure about that !!
i know that from a science expereiment , which had gone wrong .
if you want to remove the tips then yes... but no you should never use acetone on nails as it melts plastic.
if you want to remove nail poilsh, make sure you use acetone free remover.

Allergic to acrylic nails?
are the gel nails acrylic?Allergic to acrylic nails?
There really is no simple answer to your question. Allergic Contact Dermatitis accounts for the vast majority of all cosmetic related skin problems. Allergic reactions happen when a person becomes sensitive to a product ingredient. This does not happen overnight. These reactions might take months or even years to appear. Typically, most people will not become allergic to cosmetic ingredients but yet there are some who do become allergic to one substance or another. Thus, you don't necessarily have an allergic reaction to acrylic nails, but more likely you have become sensitive to a particular ingredient used in the acrylic products themselves. To determine exactly what ingredient you have become sensitized to, you would need to see a dermatologist who would do a series of tests which will usually pinpoint the exact cause of your allergic reaction.
Having said that, nail enhancement products whether acrylic, gels (both UV light cured and no-light gels), and wraps all share at least some ingredients. Therefore, without knowing the ingredient to which you are allergic to, its virtually impossible to say that one product will be safer to use than the other. Does that make sense?
Lets take it just one step further. All artificial nail enhancement systems are based on ingredients from family of acrylics. That is not to say they are all the same though. They are not. Yet, they are all related to the acrylic family. For instance, acrylic nails - commonly referred to as a liquid %26amp; powder system is based on a branch of the acrylic family called the methacrylates. UV gels have traditionally been based on another branch of the acrylic family called the acrylates. Only in recent years have some UV gels expanded to include methacrylates in their list of ingredients. Wraps, tip adhesives, and no-light gels are from yet another branch of the acrylic family called the cyanoacrylates. But, they all share a common bond with one another, that they all belong to the acrylic family in one way or another.
Whew...You've got my brain running overtime with this one, LOL.
The bottom line is this. Are gel nails acrylic? Yes, and no. They share some common ingredients, and they are part of the acrylic family. But, they are not the same. Again, you would need to know exactly which ingredient(s) you are allergic to in order to know for certain which system - if any, would not cause an allergic reaction when used on your nails.
One thing for certain though is the fact that once yo have developed a sensitivity to a particular substance which causes an allergic reaction, it is for life. There is no cure. The only way to avoid getting future allergic reactions is to avoid all contact with the ingredient which causes the reaction.
I hope that I explained this well enough and that I didn't create any confusion for you.
Oh, Solar Nails? That is another topic in itself. The short answer is this: Solar Nails are acrylic nails. Its a term used by some salons that generally refers to Pink %26amp; White acrylic nails.
I hope this helps!Allergic to acrylic nails?
They could be, especially if you are going to a quick shop - they trick so many people. However real gel is not like the acrylic at all.
If they are applying a powder and a liquid - that is not gel.
I have a whole blog entry on my website about this.

Risks of acrylic nails?
i'd really love to get acrylic or gel nails, but i've heard so many horror stories about women who've gotten infections, or whose nails got weak and didn't grow much whenever they took the acrylics off.
i definitely don't want to be dependent on acrylic nails for the rest of my life... are the stories true?
and what's the safest way to get acrylics?Risks of acrylic nails?
I've been wearing acrylics since late July. I have found no risk in them. And, contrary to peoples beliefs, it doesnt hurt the least bit should they pop off. It does take a while to get used to wearing them, if you are a nail biter or something like I was, but you do get used to it.
The safest way to get it done is by a professional- make the appointment after you've gone and seen them just to look at the work they've done and to make sure they know what they're doing.
You wont be dependent on them for the rest of your life - just simply have them taken off when you no longer want them. It takes around 30 min or so.
The nails (real nails) will be slightly weak because when you gt the acrylics put on, the have to clip and sand down your nails.
I've never gotten an infection, and my nails grow a lot. You have to get them filled every two weeks, which doesnt take too long.Risks of acrylic nails?
The safest way to get acrylics is to see a professional nail technician, I would recommend you ring a Nail Product supplier like Ezflow, CND, OPI, NSI etc and ask them to recommend a tech in your area.eye cream oily skin

Removing acrylic nails?
I got a set of acrylic nails about a week ago, for my sister's wedding. What is the safest, most effective way to remove them without having to go back to the nail salon? One person told me to soak my fingers in a nail polish remover containing acetate but that it takes a long time. What have you guys used? Thanks!Removing acrylic nails?
pure acetone. just soak your fingers in it for 15 minutes and they will fall of. then get one of those quad-sided nail file things. all of the four sides does something nice for your nails to give it a nice shine. i recommend putting on a clear coat after. i literally just did that yesterday!
p.s. you don't need the 4 sided nail thingy! haha. and congrats with your sis.Removing acrylic nails?
Why are people so lazy?
Cry me a river dude.
Yeah there's an easy way you can just rip them off along with the nail underneath.

What can dissolve acrylic nails...???
i'd like to know so that i can take them off without damaging my nails... and without all of the pain...What can dissolve acrylic nails...???
Alternative method:
1) Lay down thick towels to protect surface from acetone.
2) Soak cotton pads or gauze in acetone %26amp; place over nail beds. Protect skin w/ petroleum jelly.
3) Cover w/ towel %26amp; allow to sit for 5-10 minutes.
4) Remove towel %26amp; remove softened acrylic by scraping lightly %26amp; filing. Avoid chipping or prying it off. Repeat as needed.
5) Be sure to do this in a well ventilated area. Allow the acetone to evaporate before disposing of the cotton pads.
Best thing to do is to go to a salon %26amp; have them removed.

Acetone nail polish remover breaks down acyrlic nails, it does take a bit of time though.
First, cut the fake nails as short as possible. Then soak your fingers in an acetone nail polish remover for 5 minutes or so.
Take a cuticle stick or something and start prying them off from a corner. If it doesn't come off easily DO NOT force it, this is very painful and hurts and will do a lot of damage to the nail. Just remove as much as you can, then continue to soak and pry till they are all off.
When you are done, your nails will look like crap, possibly green underneatht the nail surface, definately not looking healthy by any means, so you need to start the CPR asap!
First, scrub them with a nail brush to get rid of all residue. Then you very gently want to start cleaning up the nail surface by buffing them oh so gently, because they will most likely be very soft, if not totally damaged, depending on if you got green goo growing on em (fungus) or if you went to a profesional, who probably used the right stuff. So buff them as well as you can without hurting yourself. You probably want to trim your natural nails as well because all this stuff has to grow out again, and it doesn't matter if you have inch long nails if they are soft like rubber cause they will bend and get damaged. So cut them as close as you can to the fingertip end.
Push back your cuticles as usual, and then wash your hands and nails again with the brush. You will now want to put on some cuticle oil, I like ';solar oil'; myself, but some recovery post acrylic kits have oil already in the pack (see below).
I've done fake nails many times, and the best post nails solution was a 3 pack repair kit by a company called ';Jessica'; I think...it consisted of a clear nail polish looking thing that was called ';restoration'; or something, it was much much thicker than normal nail polish, a topcoat that will strengthen them and since they are soft, help keep em from breaking or splitting right away, and the oil for your cuticles. I highly recommend getting a ';post nails repair kit';, it will cost about $7 (from walgreens) but it will get your nails looking decent MUCH faster, and allow them to heal.
you can now apply color if you want, and then top it off with regular topcoat.
go to a beauty supply store and buy some 100% acetone.
Soak them long enough that you dont need to PRY them off. You can really damage your nail beds if you try to force rip or peal them off.
I did this before and it really HURT.
they sell over the counter stuff for acrylics. Just do what the bottle says to get them to loosen a bit and then file the rest of them off.
acetone (nail polish remover)
keep it soaked in there until the nails feel really soft and it's easy to peel off
acitone (sp) nail polish remover. Dip your nails in a bowl of it for about ten minutes then they will be easy to pop off.!!! good luck!!
nail polish remover acetone works best. Regardless, your nails will be ruined, they will need to grow new healthy nails out.
Pure accetone. You kind find it in drug stores and at Wal Mart by the poilish removers.
Acetone nail polish remover will work but it will take a long time! Also, if you go to a Walgreens or someplace like that, they tend to carry acrylic nail remover kits and stuff.
You can buy commercial acrylic nail remover from a beauty supply store. Acetone nail polish may work as well.

First time acrylic nails sore, painful?
I got acrylic nails done today, both my thumbs are really sore (even though I did not get a false nail put on one of them because it was long enough). They ache so much and I am worried that there could be another reason for their aching?
Any advise?First time acrylic nails sore, painful?
I think you are fine, they should be better tomorrow, but if not go back and have them removed, then go somewhere else and have them put back on.
If you go have them removed, be sure to tell them the situation and hopefully they will refund you your money!First time acrylic nails sore, painful?
get it checked with doctor
im guessing the person who did them filed your nails pretty rough, but they were supposed to spray something on them whenever you felt a burning sensation. you'll be okay, just run some cold water over your sore nails.
It's hard to tell because you don't say which part of your thumbs are sore. It could be anything from the way the nail tech held your fingers while applying the acrylic to how hard she filed, either while prepping or when filing the acrylic.
If you want, you can contact me through this site and give me more details, and I can try and tell you what I think it is. I have had acrylic overlays (thin acrylics over my natural nails) off and on for more than ten years, so I may have an idea if you can give me more specific details.
Let me know if it's the nail bed which hurts, or the base of your nails, or the sides. That alone will tell me a lot about what your problem is.
Well, hmm. The perosn who done your nails was probably too rough with your fingers. it happens to me everytime I get my nails done thats why I dont get them done anymore. PLus the bonding glue or acrylic has a really firm grip on your real nail. It should feel better in a day or two. Soak your fingers in hot water, and limit how much you use your hand doing strenuous things.
i just got mine done today too
and they're sore.
just give it time
and dont put too much pressure on them
That is actually pretty normal especially if it is your first time getting acrylics. They may hurt for a few days but if it doesn't stop after that then you should have them removed.
The first time i got my nails done they were sore too.. all i did was put them in hot water for like 10 minutes then they started to feel a little bit better.. i think the reason why they get sore is because your fingers arent just to being handled like that.. (well the nail salon i went to they weren't the most gentle people)
nope...hello u just got them done today..you'll be fine they should be better by tommorrow or the next day
SORRY I JUST NEED POINTS

Can a dental assistant have acrylic nails.?
Im looking into becoming a dental assistant but im wondering if i would be able to keep my nails they are kinda long but not like really really long. Can a dental assistant have acrylic nails.?
Most offices won't allow it... Your nails would really be in the way and chances are would get broken very easily, but mainly the reason you can't have them is that acrylic nails are a source of bacteria and even with gloves on its a health hazard especially if your gloves where to tear.
Can a dental assistant have acrylic nails.?
It will be upto the owner of the clinic and their policies. Having long nails can be bad, bc it can rupture the gloves when your working and not every one is honest when they fill out their medical history, so some may have aids, clamydhia, hepatitis, etc etc etc. So from a preventive point of view trims nails are better, they will be more hygenic, and safer for you.
Idk..The place i go to almost all of them have the nails..
but then again the place i go to is really ghetto..ha.

What ruins acrylic nails?
i gor my nails done at a salon and i was wondering what ruins them so i can stay away from that. What ruins acrylic nails?
you can break them easily by knocking them against something or catching them on something. Type with the side of your fingers to avoid splitting them and watch out for the polish it will scrape off it banged, or scraped against something.Zippers are dangerous ...What ruins acrylic nails?
Acetone in nail polish removers. Buy none acetone.
I'd wear gloves when doing your cleaning using chemicals and wear gloves when washing dishes.
Be careful not to slam them on drawers. I once ripped one off on the cash register at work years ago... Ouch!
Bug spray!!!!! Chemicals and solvents. Nail polish remover.
Dont use nail polish remover with acetone in it, it will take the nails right off!
sometimes if u go to the beach, the salt water messes up ur nail polish, which will also make ur nails look horrible...

Which is better acrylic or gel nails ?
i heard that gel are better for your nails but one of my friends said she couldnt tell the difference and its just more expensive. what is the difference ?Which is better acrylic or gel nails ?
gel is so much better for you, my mom has them, if you get acrylic it makes your nails soft and they stop growing and you can only wear them for a couple of days maybe a week but with gel you can keep them on you go and get them filled and they only cost more because they are like natural depending on where you goWhich is better acrylic or gel nails ?
Hi there,
They are no better (or worse) that acrylic L%26amp;P, just different in the way in which they are applied. They both are an acrylic composite so both are acrylic.
Also, gel is usually buffed/filed off rather than soaked although L%26amp;P can also be filed to a really thin layer then the rest soaked (but not usual though) so that your fingers aren't in the acetone solution for long.
It really is down to if the proper application and removal procedures are adhered to with acrylic and gel as to how your natural nails do underneath.
Also gel is slightly more expensive, but if you look after your nails regardless of whether they are gel or L%26amp;P, then it doesn't matter which you have.
gel is worse. acrylic makes them look more fantasy but gel makes them look more natural. I don't know. its up to you what you proffer. i like acrylic.
uhhhh acrylic lasts more then 2 days or a week depending how they get put on. U can get both filled. Gel is more expensive. Gel comes in colors and clear glitters and doesn't chip
I'm loving the name lol, and they are both the same...well except the prices.

Has anyone had sensitive, pain and itchy fingers after taking off acrylic nails?
When I take my acrylics off they are more so tender and brittle. I use OPI's Nail Envy. And I keep two coats on them at all times until my nails have grown out and are stronger (not as brittle). Your nails have been through a lot of stress. Your nails have not been able to ';breathe'; and every time you've had a fill in layers of your nail has been sanded off. That leaves you with very thin and brittle nails. And the weight of the acrylics are gone. If your fingers are itchy you could be allergic to the acetone used to remove them. If your cuticles become swollen, red, and or cracked see the doctor.
Keep your hands, nails and cuticles moisturized. Use rubber gloves when cleaning or washing dishes. And keep that Nail Envy Nail Strengthener on them. I personally prefer the matte finish because the clear Nail Envy comes peels off the nail.Has anyone had sensitive, pain and itchy fingers after taking off acrylic nails?
it makes the nails very weak but not itchy ..maybe u got an infectionHas anyone had sensitive, pain and itchy fingers after taking off acrylic nails?
Could be an allergic reaction... It depends on how long this persists after the fact because you may need to consult your physician.
Yes, but not itchy. It took a long time for my real nails to look half way decent again.
Yes. It sucks!! It should take about 2 days and they should be back to normal. It is all in how they are taken off. If they are pulled off, it hurts a lot more than soaked off.
nope.
that will be for short time
Depending on where the pain is...Is it your fingers or your nail beds? If you had your nails on for a while its common for your finger tips to be very sensitive- Which of course would attribute to the pain. I have worn acrylics and solars for years and never had ';itchy fingers'; So I guess I am not much help there. Sorry.
when you rip off the acrylic, you also tear off the top layer (and sometimes more) of your natural nail. This makes them sensitive and it can be painful if you put them under hot water (among other things). I noticed that my nails were itchy whenever a breeze would hit it or after I took a shower and got hot water on them. It's because your nails are severely damaged. I would buy some nail polish that protects and strengthens your nails. Other than that, you just have to wait until they start to grow out.
never..... they probly used a dirty brush when they were doin it

I have Acrylic on my nails n i was wondering how 2 get them off..?
i dont want to jus cut them off because my nails are under neath... is there something i can soak them in or something to get them off?I have Acrylic on my nails n i was wondering how 2 get them off..?
You need to soak them in Acetone to remove them.....
It takes time and will cause some damage to your natural nails underneath.
Try having them professionally removed as there are other products available now like ';Acrylic Off'; which a gel that is applied to the acrylic and softens it like Acetone but is less harsh on your nails.
Depending on how long you've had them on for, you will find your natural nails will be quite soft underneath and you will most likely need to cut them shorter until they gain their strength again.
Use a nail strengthener on them once you have removed the acrylic so they get back into good shape as quicky as possible.
Chi Chi x.I have Acrylic on my nails n i was wondering how 2 get them off..?
get a high-acetone nail polish remover and soak for at least 20 minutes.
and water will do NOTHING hun.
I never tried it but you can soak your fingers in nail polish remover. Acetone will work. It helps a lot to have a cuticle pusher nearby.
You can soak them in nail polish with Acetone, like the other person said, but in after that you need to put your fake nails under hot water and peel them off (GENTLY) if you do it fast you risk ripping off your real nail.
Acetone
Go to a salon and ask them to remove them for you.
Or, soak them in acetone until they dissolve. (but this is bad for your skin so don't do this too often.)
DON'T pull them off, and I don't even see how you could cut them off..Don't do that either, you will damage your natural nails even more than the bit of damage caused by having acrylics in the first place.
soak your nails in a high acetome nail polish remover and then gently polish them dry.
i think you soak them in water...? at least thats what my friend did

Acrylic nails @ private school?
Hey, this is question for all girls who go to a private school.
Are you allowed acrylic nails, like the ones with the french tip?
Do you get in trouble for them?
Just wondering about different schools rules.Acrylic nails @ private school?
It depends on the school.. I live in Australia, and at my school it's probably against the school rules to wear them, although none of the teachers follow through with punishments, so quite a few girls wear them and get away with it.Acrylic nails @ private school?
I go to a private school in maryland and nobody really cares. Might not be a good idea if you go to a catholic school.
yeah i live in mississippi
i can wear them
are you allowed to wear your collars popped? we aren't haha
oh and do you have all girl teachers? my school does :/
at my school wer werent allowed them.
a bit stupid, but they got a biut more lenient around formal time and stuff.
school was run by nuns, however,,, this could be why!
Yeah. I live in New York City. My school doesn't care. Some of the teachers wear them.

Acrylic Nails: Potentially Classy or Always Trashy?
It depends, acryclic nails can go both ways. Either way, they don't come cheap and the price for each refill visit adds up considerably.Acrylic Nails: Potentially Classy or Always Trashy?
Minez r classy.Acrylic Nails: Potentially Classy or Always Trashy?
classy unless you get them too long.
mine are always classy i never get them to long which is what makes them appear trashy. It really depends on your taste
Classy, as long as you keep them short and not busy with too many colors
well if they r too long then they look trashy.
I find that the basic, not-so-long, french manicured nails are the way to go. I'm not a fan of the super-long, multi-colored acrylics that some girls get. I say, keep it simple, and it will always be classy.

I'm a nail biting wanting acrylic nails....Questions?
I've never got my nails done before:
How much does it cost to get french manicure tipped fake nails?
How often do I need to get them re-done?
Does it cost less to get them re-done?
How can I remove them?
Any other information would be useful, since I don't know anything about getting my nails done.
I'm a nail biting wanting acrylic nails....Questions?
I recommend getting uv liquid gel nails from a certified technician. Gel nails look more natural, feel more flexible and are by far better than acrylics. They cost a lot more than acrylics because they are better and require less maintenance.
Acrylic nails are thick and often chip and crack.. especially if you try to nibble on them. Gels are more forgiveable to a nip or two if you can't help yourself. Gel nails also don't lift at the edges like acrylic nails do so you will need less maintenance to get them filled. Acrylic nails need to be filled within two weeks and lift easy.
With gel nails, they should never lift if the tech is really good at applying them. Make sure they are real uv gel nails and not so called powder gel. Real gel nails are just gel and no powder.
You will only need to fill gel nails as often as two weeks but they can wait up to 5 weeks. My gel nails never lift and always look glossy and new all the way up to my next fill.
I get pink uv gel nails and have the tech airbrush a white tip under the last layer of gel. They look better than the pink and white acrylics and way better than having a white tip put on. I highly recommend them.
You can also get pink and white gel nails where they use a pink gel at the base and the sculpt white gel on at the tip. They look great too. I prefer the airbrush to the pink and white gels only because my nails grow quickly and I like the white smile lines on the tip to be redone with every fill. This is cheaper than getting a pink and white gel refill or rebalance.
The initial full set will cost anywhere from $40 - $75 for uv gel nails and the fills are around $30-$35. With gels, like I said before.. they only need to be filled an average of every 3 weeks or more.
For me, I had to get my acrylics filled every week and at most every two weeks and it cost way too much and didn't look half as nice as my gel nails..
Hope that helped a little.
Good luck.I'm a nail biting wanting acrylic nails....Questions?
How much does it cost to get french manicure tipped fake nails?: 15$-50$
How often do I need to get them re-done? every 2 weeks
Does it cost less to get them re-done? yes to get them filled because all they have to do is put the acrylic over the part that grew out
How can I remove them? with nail polish remover or going to a salon, or biting them off or under hot water
another tip try finding a salon you like so you can keep going there, most salons will say that they are doing gels on you when you ask for gels but they are really doing acrylic with gel overlay. acrylic is really bad for your nails so i recomend fiber, or REAL gels, to tell you gels arent like jelly they are just yeah.
hope i helped Taylor
Depending on where you live and what salon you go to it may cost anywhere from 20 dollars to 60 dollars! Depending on how oily your nailbeds are it is always best to get them done every 2 weeks. It does cost less to get a ';fill'; but not by much. I personally like to spend just a little more to get a full set every 2 weeks. it looks much nicer. Removing them isn't easy! I bite mine off! Bad idea! But nail techs have a solution that removes them. They generally charge from 5 to 10 dollars for this. My suggestions to my fellow nail biter is get clear tips because since your nails are so short...it would look much better than to have white tips so close to your cuticle...if you catch my drift! There are many options with acrylic nails but start basic and a little on the cheaper side to see if you enjoy them...no need in spending 60 bucks on something you will just chew off! Also, it does help with the habbit if you have the will power and the motivation! If you have any more questions just let me know! I hope I have been helpful my dear.

usually around 20-22 dollars.....they tell you to get them done every two weeks but if your nails grow slow give it 3 weeks and yes it cost less to get them done unless you break one or something....to remove them take a cotton and soak it with pure acetone not the cheap stuff and then put it on your nail and wrap a piece of aluminumpaper around it and then take something sharp and slide it in between your nail and the acrylic and slowly pop them off...i used to bite my nails too and i got my nails done for like two months and now i dont bite them anymore! hope it helps!....one more thing it will mess up your nails so when you take them off buy a buffer and it will make them soft and smooth!
dont get your nails done, beacuse they look like asss for months and months afterwards! they look good for like a week and then your nails start to grow out.... plus they are so uncomfortable... the time i got them done i couldnt unzip my pants, pop a zit on my face, (and you know you gotta do it when you see one), also wiping ur bootay was hard a first few times!!!! lol, i know too much info.... hahaha, but no i would not get them done... put some amazing nail polish on your nails and tell yourself if you bit your nail it will get messed up, so that way when you are actuaaly not biting them you will see your nail grow out and will be encouraged to keep going....
Good luCK!!!!!!!!!!!
Hahaha. I'm a nail biter too!
I actually advise you to only get acrylics for special occasions instead of getting them for no reason. When you get them, they pretty much drill down your nail for it to be really thin.
When the nails actually come off, your nails will be extremely nasty.
I got my nails done in June, they fell off in July and their still messed up.
1. almost 40 bucks.
2. every 2 weeks.
3. it cost around 20 bucks.
4. either soak them in nail polish remover is peel them off.
just resist the urge to bite. chew gum all day.
dont get a funky color.
probably get white glitter.
i have never personally got my nails done. the reason is ---ive seen what the nails look like when you take them off. they totally wreck your nails. they look like hell for a long time. so unless you want your nails to look even worse don't do it.

How do u get acrylic nails off?
one done in a salon, not packet onesHow do u get acrylic nails off?
Soak in pure aceotone for 10-20 minutes or longer. The acetone will melt the acrylic down. Use something like a orangewood stick and push the melted bits off. NEVER pull them off. It damages your nails even worse. How do u get acrylic nails off?
Pure acetone gets it off or soak them in hot water....
You Can Buy Special Nail Remover Stuff. all You Have To Do Is Put It Into A Bowl And Keep You Fingers In It And They Should Come Right Off.
Good Luck

I would suggest just stop having infills and let them grow out naturally. Cut them as short as you like (it's easier to file them down actually) and keep them painted so people can't see that they are growing out. It's far better than risking ruining your nails by letting a poor nail tech take them off.
The best idea is to return to the salon and have them professionally removed. I would hope that they woun't do what the person above says! They will soak them off in acetone, but should not pull them off!! The product should dissolve and can be gently scrapped off the nail.
Alternatively you could do it yourself, but it will take much longer.
Do not be tempted to bite or pick them off, this WILL damage your nails. Acrylic does absolutely no damage to your nails if its applied and removed correctly.
You can actually buy bottles of acetone specifically for getting acrylikc nails off. It is usually sold right next the nail polish remover. You just need to soak them in a bowl of acetone for a bit and then they come off really easy.
soak them in acetone
You can go back to the salon (or any salon) and they'll make you soak your finger in a solution for about 15 minutes, after that they will gently pull on your acrylic nails to get them off...but don't be surprise if your nails underneath (your natural ones) are in a very bad shape, it happens a lot when you use false nails, and it can take a while before they are restored to their original state! If you want to do this at home, you can get a acetone solution, that is actually a little stronger than just regular remover, and again you soak your nails in it , and once in a while you pull gently on your nails to see if they are a bout to come off...when your are done with all of them, wash your hands and nails with soapy water (warm) dry your hand well and apply olive oil to the nails and around,to help restore the moisture it as lost!!
I have silk wraps, and to get them off, you have to soak your nails in a dish of nail polish remover (acetone) for a long time. Maybe that would work with acrylics, too, but I don't know for sure.
you can buy acetone from a chemist etc and soak your fingers in it for 20 min.
THATS HaRD!!!!
You have to bite them off..
soak them in pure acetone for a 20 minutes and then slide something under neath them and they should come off easily(:

Where can I look at, and buy acrylic nails online??
If you are looking for the powder kits to build your own acrylic nails then these sites are good, especially nsi.
Unfortuanately you cannot buy acrylic nails ready to glue on as they are really better customed to your own nail.

What brand of acrylic powder ect (for nails) would you recommend andwhat site can it be pruchaced from?
sorry hon but i'm the third person to say this: if you were going to school with a nail book supscription or already in the industry you would know where you can purchase nail products online....so if you're just looking for something to practice with then i suggest going to cvs or someplace like that..... sorry but its the truthWhat brand of acrylic powder ect (for nails) would you recommend andwhat site can it be pruchaced from?
that's all i was saying... i knew that you could get it from a drug store... and honestly yes the products are dangerous if you dont know what you're doing or how to mix the correct ratio of liquid and powder... i'm glad that you are deciding to go to a professional nail tech....
What brand of acrylic powder ect (for nails) would you recommend andwhat site can it be pruchaced from?
I was going to answer this %26amp; then I read Jemma's answer %26amp; she's right. If you were even in school for nails you would know or have an instructor to ask.
if you were a nail technician you would know this, therefore i hope nobody answers your question because you should not be buying the products if you dont know what your doing with them. if your gonna do it to yourself with no training then GOOD LUCK and if your going to do it to other people then i would suggest they run away quick. these products can be harmful if not used correctly and as you dont even know what product you want or where to get it from that to me seems like you are not a nail tech

What are the acceptable times in a salon to do gels nails? acrylic nails? and fibreglass nails?
Benchmark of 1 1/2 hours but it does depend on the system and the clients hands. If there is a lot of prep to be done...hang nails, thick adhered cuticles, custom blending in marked nails, customising nail tips for severely bitten nails etc then it can take a lot longer. If someone with well kept short nails, little or no cuticle wanted gel with white tips then they'd be finished within the hour...that sort of client tho is few and far between. What are the acceptable times in a salon to do gels nails? acrylic nails? and fibreglass nails?
About 1 and a half hours max...

I have been trying to get acrylic nails off by soaking them in acetone, I've been doing?
it for two days now and still can't get it all off. My nails look hideous. I really don't want to pay someone to do it, so I am wondering if there is any other way to remove them. I will keep soaking if necessary. Any advise it great.
ThanksI have been trying to get acrylic nails off by soaking them in acetone, I've been doing?
Keep your nails immersed in the acetone....once you lift them out, the nails re-harden within a few seconds. .... use an orange wood stick while your nails are in the acetone to gently scrape off what has softened.......DO NOT chip them off, they are attached to your nail plate and when you chip them off, you take about 3 layers of your natural nail with it......
You can get a hard file and file the top of them thinnre before you soak them.I have been trying to get acrylic nails off by soaking them in acetone, I've been doing?
you can soak them and then chip away at it with a nail clipper...the acetonr softens the acrylic making it easier to remove. as soon as u soak it, while tes soft .. start taking pieces off with the clipper. woork fast.. once it drys repeat process.. it should take an hour.. try to sit down in front of a good movie...
you have to soak and rub it off soak and rub it off ; a million and one times if your doing it yourself , or you could take something and get under the acrylic and try to pop them off. best advise would be to pay to get them off because they have dremmels they use to wear away at the acrylic; no pain, and it's fast :]

Im getting acrylic nails done tomorrow?
i want to know when i take them off will my nails be all horrible and thin. i only havin them on until they need infills.
please help?
xIm getting acrylic nails done tomorrow?
If Acrylic nails are applied and removed correctly, then there should be no lasting damage. The Tech will lighlt take off the surace shine with a block before applying the nails but no nail tech should ever file on top of your natural nails (only to etch the surface) Make sure that the place you are going to does not use a drill, they cause alot of damage doing that. Have creative put on if the do that as this system uses an acid free primer, and never ever pick your nails off. Soak them in acetone for about an hour, then oil them, buff them, apply somje nail strengthener and the next day they will be good as new.
Hope this helps xIm getting acrylic nails done tomorrow?
I got them done recently and OMG what a mess after they came off. My skin underneath the nails was bruised the nails were very thin and brittle. I would never get it done again.
yes, acrylic nails are terrible. Bio gel is a better bet, but still not great for your natural nails in the long run. get good, regular manicures, and your natural nails will bet healthier, longer, and look beautiful for years to come.
any false nail will damage your nail underneath.. Grow them naturally.
i have been getting my nails done since i was 15 I'm now 20 . No it doesn't make your nails thin. BUT don't take them off yourself get it done. In saying that find the right nail place for you . Took me years to find the perfect one for me !
Gd luck
I got mine done on Saturday lol, i've had them done before that, anyway your nails do grow underneath yh there thin but i don't care because i don't really notice much x
visit the following url
They might be thinner it depends on the method used to put them on, but remember the whole time you are wearing them, your real nails underneath will not have any oxygen supplies. You can uy nail hardner from most chemists that you can use when you take them off.
Ask the nail technician to file lightly or they will be super thin.
please help?

Should i get acrylic nails?
I kno it will damage your nails and all but i hate when peoples nails look like crap and mine recently have been breaking and i have to cut them real short. What i your opnion...do you like the way they look.Should i get acrylic nails?
Damage from acrylic comes from two sorces: (1) You being cheap or lazy and prying them off instead of having them properly removed and (2) using a nailtech that is a moron (ie going to a cheap chop shop - just find a good one in a hair and nail salon, not a quick shop). Never allow drilling on your natural nail. Drilling is for the acrylic only.
Acrylic and/or gels can be applied and removed safely and with minimal damage to your natural nails by a qualified nail technician. In trade off, you will have to get fills every 2 or 3 weeks to maintain them. Also you should keep an eye on them and call your tech if you see any lifting or problems, or if you experience any discomfort.Should i get acrylic nails?
I like the way they look but, acrylic nails do tear up your natural nails. Your nails will appear to be peeling for awhile. If you think your nails look like crap just use clear polish on them for now and then let them grow. The clear will give them shine and give them strength..I tore my nails up quite a few times with acrylic and now,am trying to convince my daughter that they will tear hers up too!!!
Good luck!!
I love acryllic nails, but I will say that no matter how bad your nails look right now, they will look worse after you take off acryllic nails. Just get your manicured and treat them so that they can grow. Everytime I get acryllics I regret it after I take them off because my nails look brittle and chipped all the time and then those damn dents that the acryllics leave behind take forever to grow out. Choice is yours, but I wouldn't recommend it.
once you`ll wear them.. you can`t give up. if you`re affraid your nails look crappy.. just w8 to see them after you put acrylic nails
It is up to you, but I had mine done and they LOOKED great for awhile but they actually hurt my fingers and God forbid they get caught on anything , not to mention the the cost of the fills. I even know some people who ended up with really bad nail infections. If you want them to look better spend the money on a really good manicure. They will look great and you will have fewer hassles. The manicurist will probably be able to give you some advice on how to make them stronger with less breakage naturally.
i am a certified nail tech. i have worked for the cruise line 5 years now so i should know.
Okay this is what u do.
apply creative solar oil to acrylic nail at night and repair any broken or lifted nail as soon as u see it fill them every two weeks and every three -five days apply cuticle cream.
DONT PICK NAILS
DONT BITE NAILS
i love them and think they look awesome but i dont get them filled i let them all fall of on there own then buy a new set cause im sooooo busy i can also change the desing. they can also damage which is a con but with everything there are pros and cons plus if you get them don you can redo them and no one can see the damage. GO GET NAILS!
2 much $,and up keep. I've never gotten them. I perfer my clean healthy nails.
i'm sorry sweetie but ultimitlaty it's your choice if you ruin your nails you could get a fungus that takes about a year or two to stop hun
NO ACRYLIC..get UV GELS..they are so much better and look 100% better..they're more natural looking. even though they are more money it's worth it
If you are going to a nail salon, find one that does the gel kind instead. The acrylic makes your nails look too fake, they bump up, the gel is smooth it looks more natural.
Find someone who does Bio Sculpture Gel nails- they don't cause damage like Acrylic does and they have about 75 different coloured gels in their range so you will never end up with nails looking just like everyone elses. Gel nails are also natural looking-if you get a good nail technician they will look just like nail polish. Acrylic are thick and look very fake, I personally think that they can look trashy if you don't get an excellent nail tech, and nail techs who can do nice acrylic nails are hard to find.
I am a Beauty Therapist so just let me know if you have any other questions
Try the UV gel, It looks natural and last for a long time. its a little more expensive but its worth it.

Shall i get acrylic nails for done for over xmas?
YES :)
im dieing to get mine dont but my mom wont let me can u believe that im 16 !! an she wont let meee :/ wow i feel bad for myself lol but you should definitely get it done they look really pretty.Shall i get acrylic nails for done for over xmas?
If you want too.
But don't get them done too long, i think it looks awful if they are too long!!Shall i get acrylic nails for done for over xmas?
i got them done and its the christmas color
no, they ruin your real nails, it takes about a year for your nails to grow out. grow out your real nails and get them manicured.
NO! if you are just planing to have them over xmas, its not worth it! when you get them off your nails are really gross. they peel and break really easiler and youll have indents on your nail where the acrylic started, and it will take a year for your nail to be healthy again!!
only get acrylics IF you plan to get them filled each month. otherwise, its not worth it, your nails will look like ****. and it hurts to get them off too.
if you REALLY want fake nails, go to target and get the glue on nails. those dont ruin your nails and they will last for about a week (just enough time over xmas!)
otherwise just get a regular manicure!!
no no no! I thought the same thing two years ago and got my nails done. They are still trying to grow out where the acrylic tore my natural nail off. I really think fake nails are more harm then good and they cost a lot more than nail polish.
I use Opi Nail Envy- it is a nail strengthener and helps your nails grow faster. It's $15 and you can find it on line if you don't have a Tradesecrets store near you.
I used to get acyrlics all the time....then the rio uv nail kit came out,so i grabbed a bargin in argos £30 and i do my own all the time,it comes with a uv light and all the products and a dvd to tell you how to do all sorts of nails, they look more natural and it saves me alot of money.
i did :)
as long as you plan for keeping them just for over xmas coz they dont stay on for long and arent cheap tp maintain! however they do look nice. my friend has them but she is at the shop getting them re-done every other day x
Yes they are really sexy
Nah, fake nails are too common.
Most guys don't like them.

How to romove Acrylic Nails...?
I want to remove my Acrylic nails. Instead of removing them in a salon with acetone, I plan to let them grow out. Because I don't like my nails being so weak. Has anyone experience with that? How do I file them (Acryl is hard to file)? When I wear nailpolish, most people won't notice?!How to romove Acrylic Nails...?
If they are peeling a bit take a very slim card like a subway card and slip it in the tiny space and it lifts it off without hurting your nail.
Another thing you can do is file down as much as you can while it's growing out. You can file it, it's not that hard. How to romove Acrylic Nails...?
The only way to not rip layers of your nails off is to soak them in acetone. Sorry. It really is the only way. Just be patient %26amp; you can get them off w/ acetone. There are nail strengthens you can purchase too that help to rebuild your nails. One is by nailtek. IT works really well. I used it when I took my acrylics off %26amp; it make a big difference.
why did you get them? are you stupid?
i dont like to let them soak but its b/c im impatient. lol
no matter what your nails will be weak from having them on though. when you do get them off try to use nail hardener and keep them trimed down so they wont break off.
Hope i helped some!
good luck!
Use running warm water when removing its the easiest way
I bought ';Polish Off'; artificial nail remover at Walmart (found in the makeup isle) for 2 or 4 dollars. It comes in a white container with a pink and purple label. I couldn't find a picture of it, but its in a round container and says ';Brush Style'; on the lid. It actually does work. I tried to do the same thing as you but it ended up looking weird when they grew out. I think that it would be too hard to file them and too much of a hassle.
nail polish remover...
file from the top of the nail after soakin in warm water
Soak them in acetone that's the less pain less way of doing it.And it wont mes up your cuticles that much.i just took mine off two days ago with acetone at the nail shop and i got a mani after and there look pretty decent.I say go to the salon and get them taken off its ay easyer and not very exspensive.
use acetone polish remover, you can buy it at the store.

you can buy acetone in beauty supply store. you gotta soak your fingers in it to get them off.

My daughter, is 12 1/2 and wants acrylic nails. I'm leaning towards saying yes to her. Is that okay?
Do you think that my daughter should have acrylic nails? (She will be 13 in March 2008) ALL of her friends are wearing them, and she wants to fit in. She's into the whole ';Abercrombie, Hollister, Juicy Couture, Coach, Tiffany's, UGG's'; thing.
I really want to say yes to her, and I think I'm going to but I wanted other peoples' opinions as well. Thanks for your help!My daughter, is 12 1/2 and wants acrylic nails. I'm leaning towards saying yes to her. Is that okay?
yea..but get her the ones you buy dont go to some place to get it done. i remember how all my friends would have something and my mom wouldnt let me get it. let her! but if it becomes a pattern.....limit itMy daughter, is 12 1/2 and wants acrylic nails. yeah definitely. she is defiantly old enough. there is nothing wrong with 12 year old getting her nails done

They are really bad for your real nails. If you let her, just remember that you will have to keep taking her to get them done at the shop. I don't think it is the best decison to start getting them at 13, but if you're willing to put you're time and effort into paying for it, then sure.
Absolutely no. From the listing she's already started into trying to fit in with the rest of the kids and vice versa. That's the problem with today's kids, growing up too fast. Nails are purely fashionable. If she wants nails let her wear the press on nails.
Acrylic nails ruin your real nails, if she gets them now she will most likely have to wear them for just about the rest of her life. The upkeep of acrylics can be very expensive since you have to get them done every so often. If i had a twelve year old child I would say no, but it's you choice. Maybe offer let her get a manicure and pedicure or something instead.
yes
yep
says yes my mom got me nails when i was like 10 or 11 and i loved them if u want to start her out with something for little girls *my mom got me the ones u take of with hot water first* if she likes then and can keep them on for 2 or 3 days then get her the ones with the glue they will stay on for like a week week in a half trust me if shes in to girly things shell LOVE THEM =) id say yes
I can't see one good reason why she should have acrylic nails. It is an ongoing expense for little effect. The germs one gathers in day to day tasks rest behind the fingernails mostly. I would suggest you do not allow your daughter to just follow the crowd. It is a case of if they were going to drink Vodka at age 14 would you think it is okay for your kid to do it too? Stand your ground and be a mum, not a door mat to your child.

i got those in 5th grade. the only thing they did to me was make my nails so much weaker. and uglier.
I'd definitely go with a NO.
First of all, Acrylic is highly damaging to natural nails. Remember that nails are porous and absorb chemicals, so as they are deprived of oxygen, they get thinner and weaker. Do you really want to start this nail-salon dependency at this age?
2. Don't expose your child to any unnecessary chemicals. We don't know how these elements really affect our bodies... She is still growing and developing, introduction of these chemicals may have an adverse reaction on her system.
As angry as I was with my mother for not letting me do all the ';grown-up'; stuff at that age, I am grateful to her now. She needs to concentrate on her education and the development of her ';self'; and not have her mind filled with all this nonsense.
Let her be a girl for a little while longer before she becomes an adult...
I would say yes! Dont make her standout
i personally think she is too young. Just because all her friends have them doesnt mean she has too. Its a waste of money, some adults dont even have acrylic nails.
I'd say no. Acrylics can really damage your natural nail, and they have to be redone fairly often, which gets expensive. Tell her to wait until she's older (at least 16 or when she has her own job).
Sometimes a mom just has to stick to her guns. It may be true that all the other kids have them, but that does not mean that getting acrylic nails is right for your daughter. If you really want to be nice, spring for some manicure appointments every once in a while--for her natural nails.
i got some in fifth grade. they make your nails weak, and leave stuff on your nails for like a month.
i would say no to her.
she doesn't need to act any
older than she is, she's twelve.
they can damage her real nails
and they take a lot of maintenance
and time for them to be re-done.
she might like getting a professional
manicure or something just as much.
remind her that she doesn't have to
follow the herd. tons of adults don't
even have acrylic nails and never
will!
some of my friends (we're older)
wear them and end up tearing them
off by the end of the day because they
can't play in band or throw a ball in
gym class.
it's really all up to you,
but i think that's kind of young.
if you do, i'd suggest not giving
her the really long ones.
Say YES.
I personally think that she should get them and see if she likes them.
When she can pay for them herself, and then only maybe, she's too young.
I used to get my nails done every now and then. it was pretty and i liked it. terrible once they came off. you end up with the most raggedy looking fingernails and unless she can deal with that or you plan to pay to have them redone every few weeks its not worth it. i would say the best thing you can do for her is to teach her how to take care of her natural nails and make them beautiful. buy her a manicure kit and have fun learning how to use it effectively together. it could become an awsome mother daughter moment and last a lifetime as opposed to a few weeks!
yeah if she likes them shes way old enough
sure , let her .
ohh sure next time let her be running n**** in front of old guys!!
yeah, as long as they're not extremely long.

I want to go get acrylic nails with a design but what do i ask for?
My nail salon calls is a ';set'; with a design. I do not have fake nails, but do have acrylic on them for strength and when I get them done they call it a ';fill';.I want to go get acrylic nails with a design but what do i ask for?
I get the glitter colored acrylic nails. You can do any color or a combination of colors on the bottom and then a clear or pink color on the top by the cuticle. Plus you never have to paint them! The color is in the acrylic. No chipping, dulling, or the ends wearing off. I love them. They are more expensive, but worth it!I want to go get acrylic nails with a design but what do i ask for?
well when you go they will have designs in a case ...and u just show them what one you want and they will put it on

How can I get my fingernails to grow without wearing fake nails because I'm allergic to acrylic?
They have GEL-NAILS now they cost more then acrylic...but they are just as pretty. How can I get my fingernails to grow without wearing fake nails because I'm allergic to acrylic?
lots and lots of dairy productsHow can I get my fingernails to grow without wearing fake nails because I'm allergic to acrylic?
im a cosmetologist in maine, and i found the best product out there if you can get your hands on it is called Nail Tek , its an amazing product i use it myself i use to chew my nails and i couldnt wear acrylic either and i have long, strong, and beautiful nails now
Other than diet and living well, try Sally Hansen products. They have been around for a long time, are highly visible(easy to find their products) and their products work on achieving beautiful and healthy nails. I personally like their product labelled ';SILK PROTEIN'; on it. It makes nails stronger and more attractive. Sally Hansen has many to choose from so take your time and try then out. Ask advice from your doctor, cosmetician or beauty advisor or even someone with wonderful nails.
Soak your hands in water daily. Your nails are made of the same fibers found in your hair. Water is ';life-giving.'; If you are not allergic to lemons/citric acid, you should also add lemon juice to the water. You could also put your fingers into a freshly-cut lemon. The lemon juice is good for your nails. It helped me. Maybe it will help you...and the polish is also a good idea.
There is a nail polish that you can paint on your nails. I have found it at 2 stores: ULTA and Beauty Store and Salon. I know ULTA has a website incase you don't have one near you. You just paint it on everyday (just incase I'm wrong read directions) and your nails will grow strong and healthy. I think it's by Sally Hanson, but I'm not 100% sure.
take care of your nails and wait and there grow
There are vitamins to help nails and hair grow that is one way. You do not have to ware Acrylic nails there are also silkwrapes and other forms of fake nail look in the phone book for nail places that offer gel nails or silkwraps. Go to your local health food store and ask them what will help.
i used to be just like you but I took birth control pills and my nails really grew and now i just take in plenty of water and calcium and vitamins and believe me they will grow.
Try glue on nails. Your nails will still be a little soft when they come off but will harden soon. They dont destroy the nail as much as acrylic.
Get professional manicures and use Sally Hansen nail hardeners.
There is this Green Tea polish... and it helps them grow. There is a new kind of fake nail trend.. instead of going in a salon you can buy ones that stick to your nails... but they look like stickers and it comes with a special glue. My beautician has them, and they hold up during anything... anyways, just a thought.
Keep up with cleaning them but wear hard nail nailpolish....
P.S. fake nails mess up your nails not make them better
There is a new product called Brisa Gel nails by Creative nails... Its a Gel based product which is applied by a nail tech. Its an artificial nail...Brisa is hypoallergenic, it has been around for two years and no one has been allergic to it yet. It does not have the chemicals that acrylic has. So you need to call around and find a salon or spa that uses this product.
Call and ask ';Do your nail techs do gel nails and if so what product do they use';. Gel nails are very natural looking, thin and light weight. If you find a good nail tech you could even apply it over your natural nails.
eat jello daily
Keep polish on at all times....Clear or colored doesn't matter...It really works to make your nails stronger
this may sound weird but go buy some over the counter prenatal vitamins and take one a day and you will notice a big difference
Vitamins. If you take vitamins your nails will grow faster and you'll feel better all the way around.
daily vitamin, 8, 8 oz glasses of water a day, and gelatin if you need it. The water really works! Trust me!
Take prenatal vitamins. They work great and fast.
Lots of calcium...like in milk....also a fingernail hardener will do it as well

On one of my acrylic nails its yellow on my natural nail, what should i do?
get it removed asap. it could be the fake nail but u never know.On one of my acrylic nails its yellow on my natural nail, what should i do?
It could be discoloration of the acrylic depending on what you touched. It could be a fungus. Soak them off and see if your natural nail is affected. If so see a doctor. On one of my acrylic nails its yellow on my natural nail, what should i do?
If the acrylic nail is yellow, it could be because of tanning or sun exposure. If you have french tips, you can just get them repainted after a week inbetween fills.
If it's your actual fingernail that is yellow, you probably have some sort of fungus, and should have the nails removed until it clears up.
How long have the acrylics been on for? You might need to just get that nail re-filled. Make sure you're cleaning your nails regularly because it's very easy for them to get dirty with the acrylic on. Since it's just one nail, I'd suggest getting them touched up at the salon, yellowing can just happen over time. If you just got them filled a few days ago, however, it might have just been an error on the manicurists part.
You need to go to the nail place and have them take it off. Then you have to let that nail breath. from your question, I get that your nail is th one turning yellow...if it is then you may have a fungal infection and that needs to be taken care of as soon as possible. If it's just the acrylic nail turning yellow then you should be find by having them take it off. DO NOT rip it off...I repeat DO NOT rip it off...have them soak them off...it's painful ripping them off and plus it ruins your own nails.
Take off the nail or let them fall off and let your nails air out for several weeks because the acid in the acrylic will start to decay your nails and make them weak and brittle
go in and have it removed see if your natural nail is yellow. if it is time for the acrylics to go until the fungus is cleared up.

How can I vent a room while doing artificial nails without harming my kids with the acrylic fumes?
Its too cold outside to open a window. Im a stay at home mom and I love doing my own nails and been putting it off for the longest time for fear of my kids inhaling the fumes of the acrylic. Can it harm them first of all? I myself dont like the smell of it but I can handle it better than they can. I cant go to a salon and get them done because I dont have anyone to babysit and its cheaper and more enjoyable to do them myself anyway. I have central h%26amp;a, not like that matters, and ceiling fans. Will it hurt them? They are 22 mo and 7 mo old. Thanks. How can I vent a room while doing artificial nails without harming my kids with the acrylic fumes?
You MUST master the art of having them nap at the same time! It took me a while, and I now pass that wisdom along to you...grasshopper.How can I vent a room while doing artificial nails without harming my kids with the acrylic fumes?
Go to a Hydroponic gardening store, they sell this vent/blower like a giant vaccume, it's attached to a hose like the one from your dryer to the outside vent and you can just make like a cat door and attach the hose so it blows outside. (this hose can be as long as you need it) you might be able to get one at a OSH or maybe a hardware store. I'm not sure. but it's more efficent than just using an osscilating fan. Yes the noxious fumes can be harmfull if subjected frequently... in a closed room, is it possible to have them in a seperate room when you're doing them? like have them watch a movie ? If you only do a fill or two every ten days to two weeks, I wouldn't trip too hard. What about those women who bring their kids in to the chop-shops and have them there sitting on their laps. They should worry.
Good luck. - A
